Long ago in a faraway land, lived a pretty princess. One day, while wandering in the forest, the pretty princess began picking flowers by a stream. As she walked along the streams’ banks she came across a beautiful pond and noticed her reflection in the water
“Oh! How beautiful my hair is!” she exclaimed. “It is so long, thick, and flowing. I shall put all these beautiful flowers on me to enhance the beauty of my lovely hair!” And so she did. As she continued to position a beautiful crown of flowers on her head, she noticed the outline of her body. Suddenly she gasped, “How horrifying my legs are! They are so thin and bony! Why would God bestow upon me such lovely locks and then disgrace me with such ugly, useless legs?” In her despair, she ran back through the forest to her castle.
As the pretty princess ran hastily through the forest, she came upon a huge bear! Filled with ire from hunger, the bear lunged towards the pretty princess. Immediately, the princess stormed off at full speed, through the forest, headed toward the safety of her castle. Unexpectedly, her hair got tangled in the tree branches and limbs. Try as she might, she could not untangle herself from the wretched thralls of the forest’s brushwood.
In a state of panic, the princess cried aloud “Oh how I cursed my legs that God gave me! These amazing legs that helped me run swiftly through forest were my refuge! Oh and how I praised, in vain, my lovely locks which will be the cause of my demise!” It was at that moment that the princess came to the realization and importance of honoring ourselves just as God made us. And as she pondered regrettably about her ingratitude, the bear seized upon her, and she was no more.
