Bullied? Walk Down a Different Hallway

  • Mar 27, 2018

In the light of the recent scandal with sexual harassment in the entertainment industry, I think it is a great time to honor those actresses and models who have decided to choose to walk down a different path. Likewise, I was bullied at a school setting which led to my departure after 21 years of teaching. It is important to support all of us who are being targeted and who have been abused via bullying and harassment. While my example includes a hallway at school, it is congruent with all the hallways all over the world: entertainment, modeling, and businesses of all kinds. Empower yourself by choosing a different hallway!

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” - Dr. Wayne Dyer

First period of my life back to school:

I walk down the hall of my school to my classroom. I see a group of friends who greet me. I slam into a wall I didn’t see. It isn’t my fault! I trusted them to tell me it was there. I am confused and feel unworthy. It takes me forever to heal by myself…..alone.

Second period of my life back to school:

I walk down the same hall of my school to my classroom. I see the same group of friends who greet me. This time I see the wall. I slam into it again! I can’t believe I let them distract me. It isn’t my fault! I need my friends. It takes me a long time to heal by myself….still alone.

Third period of my life back to school:

I walk down the same hall of my school to my classroom. I see the same group of friends who greet me. I see the wall that hurt me. I still slam into it. I’m in pain! It has become a bad habit because I need to be accepted. I’m awake, I’m aware of where I am. I realize…it is my fault! I ask for help with my healing.

Fourth period of my life back to school:

I walk down the same hall of my school to my classroom. I see the same group of friends. I wave from a distance to avoid slamming into that same wall.

Fifth period of my life back to school:

I walk down a different hall.
